Forty-five dollars ends a line of puppies

Everything goes into one clinic fund, because a vaccine with no fuel to reach the village is worth nothing. Here is the whole of it, line by line.

A mother dog standing on a dirt road while four puppies feed from her
Losirwa, June. This female had raised three litters before her second birthday. Sterilising one dog like her prevents roughly forty puppies over a lifetime, most of whom would not have lived past four months.

$12

TZS 31,000

One rabies vaccination, the certificate for the household, and the entry in the ward register.

$45

TZS 117,000

One sterilisation: anaesthesia, surgery, pain relief, the ear notch and the follow-up visit.

$180

TZS 468,000

A whole clinic day in one village — roughly 90 dogs vaccinated and 20 sterilised.

Give once, or every month

A monthly gift of $25 keeps one village on the annual round for good.

Monthly giving is worth more to us than its face value. The round is planned a year ahead — vaccine ordered in bulk, wards booked in sequence, staff on contracts — and regular income is the only thing that lets us commit to a village before the money is in the account.

If you would rather fund one specific thing, say so and we will report on that thing: a named village, the school programme, the kennels, or a line from the supply list.

What your gift does not pay for

It does not pay for a shelter building, because we do not want one. It does not pay for overseas staff, because there are none. And about four shillings in every hundred go on administration, audit and fundraising — we would rather tell you that than pretend the number is zero.
